I am not willing to spend more than $100 on outdated sound cards.
One of your colleagues, Nick, even has a video about it on YouTube dated October 24, 2012. I really want to try a Sound-blaster Card, but my other option is a sound blaster z from ~2012. Reviews online have criticized the drivers as being outdated, which is a shame. The Rx 7.1 is using a PLX chip to convert the IC from PCI to PCI-E and a few more filtering capacitors. My last issue with that card, is it is legit the same card from 2005, with the only differences being a black PCB as opposed to brown on the Audigy 4. It can only do 24-bit/96khz, while the Realtek can do 32 bit, 192000hz. Another concern I have is with the DAC on the card. Also, what is the usual MSRP for that card? The price on amazon fluctuates like crazy.
